
In November 2008, Dezé Energy Corporation, a commercial business venture equally owned by the Akaitcho Energy Corporation Ltd., the Métis Energy Company and the NWT Energy Corporation (03) Ltd, will submit the Developers Assessment Report (DAR) to the Mackenzie Valley Environmental Impact Review Board (MVEIRB) to further advance our current water license and land use applications for the Taltson Expansion Project. Dezé Energy’s DAR submission to the MVEIRB is the continuation of over four years of study, evaluation, and community information sessions. A decision from the MVEIRB is expected anytime in the year. Dezé Energy Corporation awarded it's first annual bursaries to four students of the Natural Resources Technology Program (NRTP) offered at Aurora College. Dezé Energy's Vice Chairman, Ken Hudson, presented the awards in a ceremony at the Thebacha Campus in Fort Smith. Marti Lys and Brent Starling received $1000.00 each while Stephanie Behrens and Sjoerd van der Wielen, second year students of the NRTP, were awarded $1500.00 each.

"YELLOWKNIFE, N.W.T. (CP) - The Northwest Territories has opened negotiations to sell hydro power to the Diavik diamond mine, a move northern leaders hope will lead to new mineral development in the central Arctic fuelled by cheap electricity instead of expensive diesel. 'Once there's power there, it becomes basin-opening,' said the territory's premier, Joe Handley."
